I think Edu2.0 is a better tool for discussion forums compared to Facebook Groups because I find it more academic.
I really feel good about sharing intellectual and artistic output online because of four reasons. First is that I am able to expose my knowledge and creativity to many people. Some people don't want to expose their online outputs because they think nobody will read it but it's different in my case because honestly, I love exposing my works online and even though there will be few readers on a particular post, I don't care about it because what's important is that I am able to share to other people. Second is that I learned that some employers nowadays, check their applicants' online reputation and I think if the employers will see my outputs online, it would help me to be accepted. Third is that it's good for the university because when people look at my works online and they knew that I'm from a particular university, I think they will say that in terms of using technology in exposing what I learned, our university is great. Fourth is that I think it's a good training for students to have a good reputation, online.
Interactive discussions can be conducive for learning because everyone is given the opportunity to share their own ideas. I do believe that students nowadays are using the the internet and I think it's a good venue for discussions. The time spent for discussions in classrooms are not always enough and I think during the night or particular free times of the students and instructor, we can continue it online.
To ensure that the medium can be maximized, to prevent abuse, or to ensure that students are fairly graded based on the quality of their participation in discussions, there should be a certain norms and rubrics for grading.
