Altercasting Theory

We were tasked to do a blog entry about two theories of Communication and I chose Altercasting. There are two types of Altercasting. One is Manded and another is Tact.

When we speak of Manded, it is how we tell people who they are and how they are supposed to be. An example of this is showbiz. It really happens most of the time in the world of showbiz.

Another one is Tact. When we speak of Tact,  refers to how we put ourselves as senders in a role that "evokes" a natural counter-role for the other. An example would be the current President of the Republic of the Philippines, PNOY.  He once said that "Kayo ang Boss ko." In that line, it says that we are the voice of the nation, he would be ready to do actions for the things that we would ask him to. If we see him not following or disliking the people's demand, it would be a bad image for him.

That is how I understand both types of Altercasting.
